Algae-Bacteria Interactions - Insights and Biotechnological Potential
Our projects
In the recent years, my research group has primarily focused on two central research areas:
1. Utilization of aquatic and marine resources for biotechnology
2. Molecular mechanisms of microalgae-bacteria interaction and infection
Publications, news and scientific results
Our latest updates and published works on current topics of (meta)omics analyses and the provision of new biocatalysts for biotechnology, and the identification of key parameters for the targeted control of eukaryotic and bacterial consortia
Open positions
We are always looking for enthusiastic and motivated bachelor and master students who would like to join our team.
Bachelor and Master thesis:
- Marine and aquatic organisms and metagenomes represent a largely untapped resource for obtaining high-quality biomolecules for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and other bio-based industries. In our ongoing projects, we aim to develop new and innovative tools and technologies to explore biodiversity.
- Furthermore, we offer master's topics related to our biofilm projects. Biofilms play a significant role in infection as well as in industrial settings. They are usually undesirable and challenging to treat. In this area, we work with various model organisms and develop strategies to prevent biofilm formation.
